Vintage Smiths 8-Day Bakelite Wall Clock, c.1940s

A superb example of mid-century industrial design by Smiths English Clock Systems. This original 1940s wall clock features a beautifully aged dial housed in its original marbled Bakelite case, with its 8-day mechanical movement still intact. Condition Report

In excellent overall condition. As an industrial piece, minor marks are commensurate with age and use. The marbled Bakelite casing is free from cracks or breaks and has been cleaned and polished to restore its rich sheen. The dial shows attractive weathering consistent with age. The original 8-day movement is present, fully working, and keeping good time.

All of our items are genuine original pieces and as such will show signs of age and use. We believe these signs of wear — from patina to minor imperfections — are part of each item's story and character. While we restore, clean and check every piece to ensure it’s ready for many more years of use, we don't over-restore or attempt to erase its history.
