Richard Hornby Tallboy Chest of Drawers for Fyne Ladye, c.1960s

A rarely seen Tallboy designed by Richard Hornby in 1962 for Fyne Ladye, originally retailed through Heals. 

The Tallboy features five generously sized drawers with Hornby's signature recessed handles. and has been constructed from solid Afrormosia using traditional cabinet making techniques throughout. The clean lines and compact proportions make it a practical piece without compromising on storage. A great example of British mid-century furniture.

Condition Report

This example has been fully restored in our workshop, carefully stripped and refinished to bring out the richness of the timber while preserving the quality of the original craftsmanship. There are a few marks here and there as photographed. These are commensurate with age and do not stand out or detract from the chest in any way.  A timeless piece that would work equally well in a bedroom, living space or hallway.

All of our items are genuine original pieces and as such will show signs of age and use. We believe these signs of wear — from patina to minor imperfections — are part of each item's story and character. While we restore, clean and check every piece to ensure it’s ready for many more years of use, we don't over-restore or attempt to erase its history.
